New Boba Tea Houses Are Coming to Metro Phoenix: Tiger Sugar, Meet Fresh

Boba tea shops are proliferating in metro Phoenix right now. A trio of businesses serving bubble tea recently opened in Chandler, and several more with internationally recognizable names are in the works in Mesa.

These places specialize in making teas, smoothies, granitas and milk-based drinks that can be served with a number of toppings – like boba, jelly, pudding and mousse – for added texture. . Some, like Meet Fresh and Boba Cutea, also serve a range of drink-free desserts such as shaved ice and ice cream.

Here are three boba tea businesses that recently opened in Chandler and several more gearing up to open in Mesa this year.

World Famous Bubble Tea Shops Will Soon Open in Mesa

Several national and international chains plan to open in Arizona this year. Here are some notable boba tea joints that are in the works at Mesa.

Xing Fu Tang

Xing Fu Tang, which is famous for serving brown sugar drinks covered in gold foil, will make its Arizona debut this year. The company plans to open in Mesa — at the corner of Rio Salado Parkway and Dobson Road near Sloan Park — according to city records.

According to its website, “We adhere to the age-old craft of sautéed brown sugar, instead of processed syrup and refined sugar.” The menu offers a range of drinks, from fruit teas and smoothies to milk teas and alogna coffee.

According to What Now Phoenix, Xing Fu Tang is set to open this summer.

Tiger Sugar in Mesa

The first Arizona outpost of Tiger Sugar, a Taiwanese dessert chain known for its caramelized brown sugar syrup striped drinks, still appears to be in the works in Mesa. A contact from the store told The Arizona Republic in an email that they plan to open in May.

The store, whose sign can be seen near the Shaanxi Chinese Restaurant, is located just north of the Mekong Supermarket and the H Mart on Dobson Road and West First Street.

Fire Tiger Dessert Cafe

Fire Tiger by Seoulcial Club has offices in Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines, but none in the United States, so far. An Arizona outpost of this bubble tea shop from Thailand, which specializes in various desserts, including its basic brown sugar-coated drinks that look like tiger stripes, is in the works at Mesa. City records say the store will open on First Avenue and Dobson Road, just south of H Mart.

Meet fresh

According to the City of Mesa Permits website, Meet Fresh — a Taiwanese dessert shop — is planning to open its second store in Arizona in the mall that houses AZ International Marketplace. The menu includes shaved ice, soups, tofu pudding, egg waffles, slushies and tea drinks with toppings such as taro ball, grass jelly, purple rice, red beans and, of course, boba.

Its Chandler location opened in the same plaza as the new 99 Ranch Market in fall 2021. When more information becomes available about Mesa’s opening, chances are it will be announced on the franchise’s Instagram account.

Chandler is now home to several new boba tea shops. Here are a few to check out.

Boba Cutea in Chandler

Boba Cutea in Gilbert has expanded to the East Valley with a new location in Chandler on West Chandler Boulevard near 101. Its menu features a wide variety of desserts including Galaxy Boba drinks, Gelato ice cream Boba, ice cream shakes, slushies, milk teas and brown sugar drinks.

Gilbert’s Tea Fresho now serves its selection of fruit and slush teas, coffee drinks and milk teas in Chandler, on West Chandler Boulevard and North Kyrene Road. Their toppings include boba, crystal pearls, jellies, egg pudding, cheese mousse, popping boba, and aloe vera.

Rare Tea in Chandler

RareTea aims to bring a farm-to-table approach, with “locally sourced fresh fruit” and teas sourced “straight from the world’s finest tea growers”, according to its website. At the new Chandler location on East Germann and South Gilbert roads, the boba tea chain serves milk and fruit teas as well as matcha drinks and smoothies.
