Police investigate fatal accident in Leicester that claimed the life of Worcester woman

The fatal crash involving a Worcester woman and another driver on Stafford Street in Leicester is under investigation, according to Leicester Police Chief Kenneth Antanavica.

The woman and the other driver of the two vehicle crash were both taken to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester. The Worcester resident died of her injuries and the second driver was seriously injured, according to Antanavica.

Leicester Police, Fire and Medical Services with support from Auburn Fire Brigade arrived at the scene involving two vehicles around 6.45pm on Sunday. Worcester and Massachusetts State Police assisted Leicester Police by blocking Stafford Street.

The names of the drivers were withheld due to the ongoing investigation and police seeking to notify the families of the two people involved.

Stafford Street was closed for several hours while the Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council’s accident reconstruction team investigated the incident.

District Attorney Joseph Early’s office has been notified of the accident and will also be working on the investigation.
